Bathroom remodeling in St. Petersburg, Florida

It is the largest of the markets we work in, and the one where the permit schedule is most often misjudged.

What is particular about St. Petersburg

Permits, honestly

The city’s Development Services says residential review runs 5 to 10 business days. In practice, bathroom remodels are commonly reported at three to five weeks. We schedule against the second number, and we tell you that at the start rather than at week four.

The 49% rule, and what changed in 2025

St. Petersburg measures the cost of the work against 49% of the structure’s market value. Since June 2025, Florida law no longer lets a city add up work over a look-back period, so last spring’s project does not count against this one. The project in front of you is measured as a whole.

Flood insurance

St. Petersburg is a CRS Class 5 community — a 25% discount inside the Special Flood Hazard Area.

Investment

A renovation begins with a pre-construction agreement, and it ends in a firm written price.

Construction is delivered under a licensed registered contractor. A renovation begins with a pre-construction agreement: the site verified, every trade priced against the drawing, and a firm written price before anything is demolished. Part of its fee credits toward construction.
